Chris Larsen, Malware Research Team Leader
Chris has 20+ years of experience in writing code and natural language processing. At Blue Coat, he leads the Malware Research Team, with a focus on Internet malware vectors. He edits the Blue Coat Security Blog and is one of its main contributors. He also develops Asian language modules for Blue Coat’s WebPulse system. Earlier, he was the lead engineer and linguist developing Blue Coat’s real-time rating software. Prior to joining Blue Coat, he co-founded and was VP of Technology at LinguaTech International. Chris holds a BS in Computer Science and a Masters in Linguistics.

Qing Li, Senior Principal Engineer
Qing Li, Chief Scientist and Senior Technologist, is responsible for the IPv6 Secure Proxy and WAN Optimization technology and product lines at Blue Coat Systems, Inc. Qing spent the past 7 years at Blue Coat designing and developing the industry’s first IPv6 Secure Web Gateway in 2009 as well as the industry’s first IPv6 WAN Optimization appliance in Feb. 2011, and is the industry’s first Secure IPv4-to-IPv6 Transition Platform for Applications and Services.  Qing is a published author of 4 books and is an active FreeBSD developer and committer. Qing is also a visiting researcher at KEIO University in Japan.

Grant Asplund, Senior Technology Evangelist
As a WAN optimization technology evangelist, Grant brings more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and management to Blue Coat. Prior to joining the company, Grant was head of market development and sales for Altor Networks, which was acquired by Juniper Networks.  Before joining Altor Networks, he was vice president, enterprise sales for NeuStar.Earlier, he was president and CEO of MetaInfo and successfully sold the company to NeuStar. Grant attended St. Martin’s College.

Doug Krueger, Vice President, Federal Area Sales
Doug Krueger joined Blue Coat in 2011 as Vice President for Federal Area Sales. In this capacity, Doug is responsible for business development, sales and operations. He brings with him over twenty years’ experience selling into the Federal, DOD, and IC marketplace. Before joining Blue Coat Doug was Vice President of Sales at Fortress Technologies successfully guiding the sales team through acquisition by General Dynamics. Previously Doug held executive level positions at Cisco, Juniper, and Tumbleweed Communications. Doug graduated with a BA from the University of Wisconsin.

George Teas, Senior Systems Engineering Manager
George Teas is the Senior Systems Engineering Manager for Blue Coat Systems’ Federal Government operations.  In this role George is responsible for building solutions and advising customers on best practices for securing their network and optimizing its operation.  George brings over 15 years of experience to Blue Coat and has previously contributed to the success of Lucent, AT&T, and Fortress Technologies.  You can connect with George on LinkedIn.

Brian Contos, VP & CISO
Brian builds successful security companies and has had multiple IPOs and acquisitions. He is a published author, seasoned business executive with a proven record of success and a recognized security expert with 20 years of experience. He has worked with Global 2000 companies and government organizations in 45 countries across six continents. Brian authored two books including Enemy at the Water Cooler—Real-Life Stories of Insider Threats and Physical and Logical Security Convergence, which he co-authored with former NSA Deputy Director William Crowell. He is an invited speaker at leading industry events like RSA, Interop, AusCERT, Infosecurity Europe and GFIRST and has written for and been interviewed by industry and business press such as CBS News, Bloomberg, Forbes, NY Times, USA Today and the London Times. Brian was formerly the WW VP field engineering at Solera Networks, senior director for emerging markets at McAfee, chief security strategist at Imperva, chief security officer at ArcSight, and director of engineering at Riptech. In addition, he has held security positions at Bell Laboratories and the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Brian is a Ponemon Institute Distinguished Fellow and graduate of the University of Arizona.
